Adding Some Cardio

For my first real exercise after the fast, I decided to run/walk. I just wanted to take it easy or at least as easy as I could stand to take it. It was ok for the first 40-some minutes until I turned south to head back to the house ... straight into a rather insistent headwind. Lots of walking ensued.

Overall, my heart rate was quite a bit higher than usual for this route/speed, but it's been two weeks since I last ran or did significant cardio. The overall pace wasn't too bad considering the amount I walked. Plus, when I was walking, I wasn't exactly burning up the asphalt. The running felt really slow and sort of awkward. Oh yeah ... it WAS slow. Silly me!

Many thanks to the Tippecanoe County employee who drove his truck very slowly by me on 425W (a gravel road) so I didn't choke on the dust and wasn't pelted with rocks.

Walked about 4 minutes before and after the route.

Had a bowl of watermelon for breakfast.
