Windy Outing on My Bicycle

Workout

April 6

8:40 a.m. CT

Distance: 6-7 miles bicycling

@end: 70, 58%, sunny, SSW@24

What a gorgeous morning! The winds were killer to ride into, particularly with my very unconditioned legs. It's going to be a warm day: forecast high of 80, record high of 85, average high of 63. I rather prefer 63 over 80.

My heel wasn't all that sore this morning which surprised me considering yesterday's workout and push mowing the yard. More yard work is on the slate for today.

Smorgasbord of Cardio

Been eating way to much and exercising way too little. Par for the course for me being away from home. Reached my "social fatigue" limit yesterday, so am spending most of today chilling by myself. Went to see The Informant last night. It had it's cute, humorous moments, but for the most part I found it to be tiresome.

Felt good to be moving, but the run seemed sorta hard. The rest was comfortable.

Stationary Bike and 7x400 on the Treadmill

I flew back to Indiana from Orlando today. Even though I'm glad to escape the humidity, I'm not all that thrilled to be back in Princeton. I'm getting pretty close to reaching critical mass on moving elsewhere. Just gotta figure out which elsewhere. It's a big country.

Workout

July 6, Monday
4:15 p.m. ET
Planet Fitness, Orlando
Duration: 1:02:50
Distance: 17.something miles
Stationary bike, "cascades" @ levels 7 & 8
RPM 95-100

This was a good workout, but was pretty much soaked by the end. I wanted to get in about an hour of cross-training, but I didn't want to kill my legs since yesterday was a long run.

2.5 miles 7x400: 25:48, HR ave 156, max 177

Cool down: .5 mile walk

I didn't much want to be on the treadmill, but it was too late to run outside and do speedwork. My legs felt pretty good, but I had some trouble breathing on the intervals, especially the last 100-150 meters of each one after the first couple. After running, I did three set of bench press with dumbbells just to give my triceps a little work.

Nice Bike Ride

I'm glad I rode my bike this morning. It started raining around noon and just let up a little while ago. I got back into town on my bike in time to catch the short Memorial Day ceremony that was held on the courthouse lawn.

Today was my Grandma Debord's birthday. She died many years ago (in 91?) now, but I still miss her.

Workout

May 25, Monday
10:08 a.m. CT
Distance: ~15 miles
Duration: ~1:20:00
HR ave 129, max 166
@start: 73, 84%, cloudy, SSE@9

On my new, el-cheapo, heavy, hybrid bicycle today. I intended to only go 8 or 10 miles, but once I got to the turn around point, I just kept going. Next time I ride that long, I must really wear bike shorts instead of regular shorts. Ouch.
