Nothing Exciting, No Found Money, A Feast

It's a windy day. There's a front trying to push through. After a really wet spring, we've had a very dry late summer and fall. At 11:15 a.m., there is a nice rain shower in progress. I almost had the yard mowing finished before it started, but I became only a little damp in the process.

Workout

October 7
8:15 a.m. CT
Warm up: .5 mile walk
Distance: 4.32 miles
Duration: 44:22.6
Pace ave: 10:16
HR ave 153, max 172
Cool down: .5 mile walk
@start: 64, 61, partly sunny, ESE@10
@end: 66, 62%, cloudy, ESE@11

Another decent run. Nothing ached. Nothing exciting. Didn't find any money.

Was 17 seconds slower than the course PR a month ago, but wasn't pushing very hard today. I probably ought to take it easy tomorrow & slow down to 11:15 or so. The workouts this week will be a lot shorter as I taper leading up to the half marathon on Sunday. I won't do any single run longer than about 5 miles or so.

Food

Breakfast: 9:40 a.m. banana, apple, green grapes, red grapes, 1/2 oz almonds.
Morning Snack: 11:45 a.m. 1.5 oz Triscuit Thin Crisps Quattro Formaggio.
Supper: @Pood's 3:30 p.m. corn nuggets; 4:45 p.m. 8 oz filet mignon, steamed cauliflower, fries, Texas toast; 5:30 p.m. caramel pecan apple pie with vanilla ice cream; 3 Sam Adams Oktoberfests over the three-ish hours I was there.
Evening Snack: Diet Coke, Milky Way.

I had a $10 coupon to Pood's, so I headed there for a very late lunch or a very early supper, depending on which way you look at it. What a feast it was! I've been flat out hungry lately, presumably due to the increased mileage. Today, I was tired of being hungry, so I had a feast. I parked my butt at the bar, read my book (Harlan Coben's "Hold Tight"), drank good beer, and ate good food. At 3:30, I was the only one in the place, so it was nice and peaceful, too. Chuck, the bartender, asked me if this was my "last supper" before the race. I guess it was.

I stopped at Casey's on the way home and got a Diet Coke and  a Milky Way and some cinnamon Eclipse mints. Yeah, yeah. Another candy bar. I'm not worried about it this week. This week is all about getting my mind prepared and psyched up to hit it hard on Sunday. I REALLY want to break 2 1/2 hours on the half, and maybe even 2:20.
