Speedier But Far From Fast

Workout

This morning's run started later than optimal. It's a beautiful day, but in the direct sunlight, it sure feels hot. I wanted to pick up the pace on this run. It felt ok, but not great. I wanted to walk several times, but it was a this-is-really-uncomfortable feeling versus an omg-I'm-dying feeling. Legs are still a little on the not so powerful feeling. To avoid the heat, I need to get back to hitting the hay between 9:30 and 10:30 so I'll wake up between 5 and 6, which is what I was doing last summer. 70 degrees isn't hot unless you're running. 50 to 55 would be awesome!

Warm up: walk .44 mile

Food

Pre-run: 1/2 small banana
Post-run: 1/2 small banana
Breakfast: spring mix, red leaf lettuce, sliced mushrooms, 6 almonds, 1/2 tbsp ground flaxseed, hand full of blueberries, 4 sliced strawberries

Yesterday, I made a big batch of green smoothie using kale, a couple small apples, a couple frozen bananas, frozen blueberries, water. It tasted good, but I think I'd just as soon chew what I'm eating versus drink it. If I needed to eat on the go, it'd work great since it's hard to eat a salad driving down the road [no, I've never actually tried that!]. I had some edamame on the side with the smoothie along with about 1/2 oz almonds. Later in the afternoon, I was really wanting some starchy carbs, so I ate bunch of Kashi Cinnamon Harvest shredded wheat cereal (dry, not with milk). Supper was 1/2 whole wheat pita with hummus and spring mix and 1/2 oz almonds. Later in the evening, the carb monster attacked again and a lot more dry Cinnamon Harvest went down the gullet.
