I registered for the half marathon in Dallas on December 14th. The temperature should be fine, but the course is a little harder than Evansville's. To keep me motivated and training during the winter, I'm going to find a spring marathon, maybe St. Louis, Louisville, or Cincinnati. The Louisville race goes around the infield of Churchill Downs. Now, THAT would be cool ... about as cool as running around the Indy 500 track at the Indy Mini Marathon.

The purpose of this run was punishment to run at target half marathon pace. I'd really like to sustain 10 minute miles in Dallas, but I'm not holding my breath. A 10:08 pace is the fastest training run I've ever had, so I'm not complaining about it. The route was tough, too. Had I chosen a flat course, I might have hit 10:00. All in all, it was a really good run. It was hard, but I wasn't struggling. Definitely not a hot day!
There's a certain irony in the two half marathons in Dallas in the fall. The first, held in November, is the DRC Half Marathon. It's course winds around White Rock Lake. The second, held in December, is the White Rock Marathon and Half Marathon. While the full marathon does indeed go around the lake, the half does not. Go figure.
Anyway, regarding the hills in today's run: take note of the elevation map for the Dallas race.
