In order to keep running consistently this winter, I need to register for a some races to provide the necessary motivation. Otherwise, I'll be couch potato-ing it until Spring. I think I want to do a full marathon in late April or May and 2 or 3 half marathons. Doing the Texas Half has about a 50-50 chance right now.
Were I to just pick today, I'd do the Texas Half, Big D half, Flying Pig half, and Calgary full. Calgary is at elevation (for a 500' elevation flatlander): 3400-3675' with most of the increase between miles 9 & 11 and most of the decrease between miles 19.5 & 21 with a little kick upwards near the end. The good thing is I can go out ahead of time and acclimate.
Early this past fall, I was seriously considering St. Louis for the full marathon. Had I kept up with the training in December, I'd most likely do it, but I don't think I can get properly prepared to do well by then. I can get prepared to finish, but I've already finished a full marathon & want to do better than last time. This is all assuming my ankle holds up.
