A Short Slip Down A Very Slippery Slope

Workout

Friday was an official rest day in my marathon (or half-marathon, as it might turn out to be) training plan.  Today, I should do around 5 miles, but my left ankle is very sore (as it was yesterday, too). I spranged it pretty badly back in my college days, and it occasionally will give me a little grief maybe once or twice a year, if that. I did some range of motion stretches and exercises for it a couple weeks ago, and it's not been quite the same since. I don't know why it has progressed from not-quite-right to downright sore, though.

Food

Thursday wasn't the best of days for proper eating. I was okay until the late afternoon when I was struck by the munchies. I had a bunch of Kashi Cinnamon Harvest Cereal. It's a pretty good thing to eat when confronted by the munchies so long as one doesn't eat a ton of it. I ate a ton of it. That evening, my nephew celebrated his 4th birthday at Chuck E Cheese in Evansville. I had pizza. Yes, pizza. A couple slices of hamburger/sausage, one of pepperoni, and two of supreme. As far as pizza slices go, they were small. Nevertheless, it was pizza that tasted good but was really bad for me. My weight was up three pounds Friday morning.

Friday was pretty good from a quality perspective, but not so good from quantity. I ended up eating too many nuts/seeds, for sure. The salad at supper was the best tasting thing I had all day.
Breakfast: two packets of oatmeal, some blueberries.
Morning Snack: 1/2 oz almonds, 5 prunes.
Lunch: Broccoli, cauliflower, 1/2 large Fuji apple,
Afternoon Snack: 1 serving (56 g) of Cinnamon Harvest dry.
Supper: huge green salad with bell pepper, onion, mushrooms, a few blueberries & strawberries, a little feta, edamame, a few sprinkles of raspberry vinegar; 6 almonds; 2 dates.
Evening Snack: 1 oz sunflower seeds, small banana

Saturday has been pretty good on the chow front. I'm still up a couple pounds in weight, so I needed to be fairly conservative today, especially since it doesn't look like I'll be able to run.
Breakfast: two packets of oatmeal, 1 tbsp ground flaxseed, cinnamon.
Morning Snack: none.
Lunch: 2 dates and a mongo-sized green salad with bell pepper (green, red, yellow), onion, tomato, cauliflower, broccoli, edamame, feta, radish, carrot, blueberries, strawberries, raspberry vinegar, avocado. Yummy! I think I managed to cover the entire rainbow.
Afternoon Snackk: nectarine, 1/2 oz almonds.
Supper: Healthy Choice Bean & Ham Soup, red grapes.
Evening Snack: none.

Dog Stuff

When I arrived back home after the Chuck E Cheese adventure on Thursday, I took the dog who followed me home Thursday morning inside with me. We hadn't been inside 10 minutes when I looked up from the Mac and saw him, leg hiked, taking a whiz on the door frame between the living room and dining room. Note that the dog had been outside already for quite some time. My warm and fuzzy feelings toward the dog melted and evaporated in that split second. After dragging a door stored in the attic down to the basement, I shut him in the small room down there overnight. I took him to the Gibson County Animal Shelter Friday morning. The lady at the desk recognized him as the pooch that followed her daughter home several days ago. Additionally, my neighbor has seen the dog many times when she's taken her dogs to run in a fenced field near Baldwin Heights. So, his owners let him run at large a lot, apparently. This time, they can pay $$ to get him back. To top it off, he's not neutered. Complete irresponsibility.
