Nothing To Write Home About

Workout

August 7
7:46 a.m.
Warm up: .45 mile walk.
Distance: 5.18 miles.
Run 50:50, walk 2:32, run 5:26.
Duration: 58:48.8
Pace: 11:21
HR: ave 162, max 176.
Cool down: .45 mile walk.
@start: 71, 76%, partly cloudy, N@5.
@end: 77, 62%, sunny, N@8.

This was supposed to have been an "easy" recovery run, but after about 25 minutes, my heart rate was climbing above 165 and staying there even with the easy pace. I'll be so glad when it cools off! At least there was more of a breeze today. I've been running later in the morning than I usually do in the summer because the 10k on September 6th is at 8 a.m. Thankfully the race organizers of the half marathon on October 12th moved it up an hour to 7 a.m. Last year was horribly hot ... the same day as the Chicago Marathon. Anyway, running early enough to avoid most of the sun won't help me much on either race day.

My left ankle felt fine, but my lower right back ached about the whole way. My legs started feeling pretty tired around the 2 mile mark.
