Today starts my road trip to Ralston, AB. It's about 1700 miles from Princeton, although I'm starting from West Lafayette this morning. I was originally going to have company on the drive, but my co-pilot was rear-ended on her way home from work yesterday evening. She's pretty shaken up and has a "crunchy" neck and a major headache. I'm so glad it wasn't serious, but I'll miss her on the drive.
The sunrise was awesome this morning when I was out running. Here's some original, not-so-good, corny haiku (pun intended):
In traditional 5-7-5:
Hoosier sunrise blooms:
Sun peeking through corn tassels
against pink blue sky.
Let's try 3-5-3:
Sunrise blooms:
glowing Sun peeks through
corn tassels.

ROAD TRIP?
SEVENTEEN HUNDRED MILES?
EACH WAY?!
Whatever happened to Amtrak?
Well, the trip coming back through Canada around Lake Superior and down through Michigan is more like 2200 miles. :-) Yes, I'd like to take the train at some point, but I really wanted to do a road trip this time around, even though it's very, very, very long ....
