I was thinking about Granddad on part of my run today, about hanging out with him on the farm when I was kid, squishing in next to him in the old brown recliner, riding on the tractor and combine, jumping off the ladder in the grain bins into the grain, playing in the back of the trucks when the grain was being unloaded, going to Gay Dan (yes, it was a while ago) for lunch, going to Griffin and getting one of those little cokes or an orange drink out of the really old soda machine at the really, really old gas station, getting LifeSavers from him during church ...

My sense of pace seems to be completely distorted. It felt like I was plodding along for a lot of this run, but I knew I working hard. I guess I ought to trust that when I'm working hard, the pace is going to be quicker even when it feels pokey. The first two to two and half miles felt pretty good. The last mile and a half were a mental challenge. I was fatigued and wanted to walk many times, but managed to keep my butt moving anyway. Afterwards, it always more satisfying to have run it than to have given in and walked.
Found a penny on the run today. Only one. Pitiful compared to yesterday's bonanza of three (3!) pennies.
After my weight training workout a couple days ago, I really thought my triceps would be yelling at me, but it's actually my biceps that are pitching a fit. Ow!
